Description
Etude for the right hand: for drums with the right hand carrying a melody with it
The melody of these drums is likely to be more detached than that of the previous drums; that is why the student, having the means to accentuate it without difficulty, must avoid dryness of touch; on the contrary, the fifth finger of the right hand must bind the notes of the melody, and be heard without hitting the key too hard. The bass will be played exactly in bar, and its notes, which will be neither heavily touched nor too detached, will have to participate in the intention of the melody. (H. de Montgeroult)
